“I Must Be Your Most Difficult Case”

I’ve heard this countless times over the years from many patients. It is true that some cases simply are more challenging than others; however, let’s explore how the science of Dynamic Home Healthcare (and Heilkunst & Homeopathic Medicine) shines a light through the overwhelmed feeling in the soul.

As a clinician, what do I say to the patient at this moment in the consultation when a sense of defeat creeps through and he or she feels so challenged by his or her case? Well, here’s a scenario. If you’re like me, you get to where you’re going with the help of a GPS or a map when you’re heading off into an unfamiliar city or area of town. A clear sense of understanding direction is vital so we end up at the destination we aim to arrive at so we’re not getting lost and burning up precious time and resources. A patient case requires a “map” of sorts too. What my defeated-feeling patient needs to understand first is if he or she starts his or her health continuum at “3” and the goal in healthcare is to do what we can to advance forward toward an optimal “10”, a structure for navigation (akin to a map) is crucial. If there’s no structure, it will be difficult to work towards treating the deeper causation making advancement on the continuum much more difficult. This structure arises from real principles that prevent me from getting “lost” in my patient’s often chronic and complex case. The patient understands that I will always deal with the current focus at each appointment as I participate the case and suggest therapeutics based on principles grounded in natural law. The patient will also get the hang of this process, or better said, will get a “feeling” for our work together soon enough. This juncture is my favorite place to be as a clinician, when the patient becomes truly engaged in his or her healthcare journey.

I like to remind my patients that we truly are all “works in progress” and the reality and value of this system of healthcare is that patients can lay claim to greater health with commitment to their Dynamic Home Healthcare journey.
